CREATING BETTER PLAYERS AND BETTER PEOPLE.

YGK Goalkeeping was born from a desire to generate a high-level training environment for players of all abilities. Reaching an individual’s goals means giving them the most tailored and challenging training possible, while simultaneously building their confidence.

Fancy equipment and facilities aren’t the name of the game here — what’s more important at YGK is using the training environment to teach proper techniques, mimic game-like scenarios, and encourage individual decision-making.

At the end of the day, each goalkeeper must act alone in a game. We give you the tools and confidence to execute in every situation.

OUR FOUNDER

Erika Yohn

Erika Yohn founded YGK in 2021 in the greater DMV area. As a player from Morgantown, WV, she excelled in the youth game at all levels — from numerous State Cup titles and USYSA Region I appearances, to league championships, to ODP Region I rosters, to a US Youth National Camp — her success could be directly attributed to a handful of individual coaches that went above and beyond to give her the best experience possible.

That mindset drove Erika to become a coach herself after completing her playing career at Purdue University from 2014-17. She has been a team and goalkeeper coach with Total Futbol since 2018, working with players all across the DMV at the youth level.

She also has experience in the college game — she is currently the GK Coach at West Virginia University where the Mountaineers enter the 2021 season with a #18 national ranking. Previously, Erika was with the Howard University staff as a volunteer GK assistant in 2019, seeing the Bison through a regular season SWAC title and conference GK of the Year accolades.

YGK is an extension of Erika’s formal coaching roles, giving her the ability to work with players from programs outside her own.
